Pastor Chris concludes our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “Setbacks Become Setups.” As Acts 8 continues the story of the life of the Holy Spirit in the followers of Jesus, we read of the ministry of Philip, an important early leaders alongside the Apostles. As a moment of tremendous difficulty in the believing community developed, we see how God used it as an opportunity to develop his Kingdom purposes in and through those who followed Jesus. God carries us through our disappointments and cynicism to a hopeful life that recognizes he is working in all things and always shaping us in the life and power of the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Chris continues our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “Staying on Mission in Opposition.” As Acts 6 continues into 7, we read of the life and example of Stephen. At this profoundly important moment of a transition in the narrative of Acts, Stephen faces tremendous challenges, ultimately giving his life as the first martyr in the book of Acts. Along the way, we learn how staying on mission with Jesus in opposition requires nearness to God and reveals a fullness of God’s grace and power.
Pastor Chris continues our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “Growing Pains.” As Acts 6 opens, we read of the ongoing reach of the Gospel of Jesus within the Jerusalem community. More and more disciples are being made. And with more disciples comes more diversity and need. The earliest disciples handle this moment with wisdom and care, which allows a point of pain/trouble to morph into an opportunity for kingdom life and advancement.

Pastor Chris continues our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “The God of the Mission.” As Acts 4 concludes and Acts 5 opens, we read a summary of the beautiful community being formed by the power of the Holy Spirit, but we also see deception within the community and how God handled it. We learn much about ourselves in this text, but we also learn much about the God of holy awe we now walk with, Jesus.
Pastor Chris continues our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “Opposition to the Mission.” In Acts 4, we see the first moment of persecution in the lives of the disciples following the death and resurrection of Jesus. Peter and John, empowered by the Holy Spirit, handle the moment well - and we learn how we too will face opposition and how to walk faithfully with God through it as our allegiance to Jesus clarifies and our prayers for empowerment grow.
Pastor Chris continues our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “Miraculous Moments in the Mission,” walking us through a miraculous provision of healing in Acts 3 which then led to a remarkable wave of salvation among God’s people. We are called to be both a beautiful and empowered community - this teaching brings us again to the empowerment we are to walk in as disciples full of the Holy Spirit.
