July 10, 2018

Pastor Chris continues our teaching series in the annual summer book series entitled, “Good Faith: Being a Christian When Society Thinks You’re Irrelevant and Extreme,” with a teaching entitled, “Counterculture in Marriage, Life & Race.” Having already established how our culture views us as Jesus followers and paved our way forward as “good faith” Christians, we now investigate how we are called to offer a counterculture in the deeply important arenas of marriage, life/death, and race.

July 3, 2018

Pastor Chris continues our teaching series in the annual summer book series entitled, “Good Faith: Being a Christian When Society Thinks You’re Irrelevant and Extreme,” with a teaching entitled, “Love, Believe, Live.” Having already established how our culture views us as devoted Christians, we now investigate how to initially consider and embrace cultural engagement. Everything starts with loving God and others, continues with right belief (orthodoxy), and is expressed through a faithful, consistent lifestyle with others.

Sunday, June 17 // Acts Part 9 “Setbacks Become Setups”

June 18, 2018

Pastor Chris concludes our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “Setbacks Become Setups.” As Acts 8 continues the story of the life of the Holy Spirit in the followers of Jesus, we read of the ministry of Philip, an important early leaders alongside the Apostles. As a moment of tremendous difficulty in the believing community developed, we see how God used it as an opportunity to develop his Kingdom purposes in and through those who followed Jesus. God carries us through our disappointments and cynicism to a hopeful life that recognizes he is working in all things and always shaping us in the life and power of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday, June 10 // Acts Part 8 “Staying on Mission in Opposition”

June 11, 2018

Pastor Chris continues our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “Staying on Mission in Opposition.” As Acts 6 continues into 7, we read of the life and example of Stephen. At this profoundly important moment of a transition in the narrative of Acts, Stephen faces tremendous challenges, ultimately giving his life as the first martyr in the book of Acts. Along the way, we learn how staying on mission with Jesus in opposition requires nearness to God and reveals a fullness of God’s grace and power.

Sunday, June 3 // Acts, Part 7 “Growing Pains”

June 4, 2018

Pastor Chris continues our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “Growing Pains.” As Acts 6 opens, we read of the ongoing reach of the Gospel of Jesus within the Jerusalem community. More and more disciples are being made. And with more disciples comes more diversity and need. The earliest disciples handle this moment with wisdom and care, which allows a point of pain/trouble to morph into an opportunity for kingdom life and advancement.

Sunday, May 13 // Acts, Part 6 “The God of the Mission”

May 14, 2018

Pastor Chris continues our series in the book of Acts with a teaching entitled, “The God of the Mission.” As Acts 4 concludes and Acts 5 opens, we read a summary of the beautiful community being formed by the power of the Holy Spirit, but we also see deception within the community and how God handled it. We learn much about ourselves in this text, but we also learn much about the God of holy awe we now walk with, Jesus.
